Aerosmith - change of photo!! 26th July 2010

Post by vanessanjf »

I have decided to start another one but I am a bit disappointed with it.
I love the band Aerosmith so decidded to design a chart of the band. I used Jane Greenoff's cross stitch designer. i am using 18ct aida.
Here is the photo used
Image
I worked on it for 5 hours today and here is the results so far
Image
It is the top corner of his hair but to me it looks like it just blends in with the background. his hair is black in the photo so I feel a bit disappointed. It only has 21 different colours in it, I thought before I started that 21 wouldn't be enough for it to look realistic. I put 99 colours in the box when I was designing it but I guess with being black and white there aren't a lot of colours to choose from.
I will keep going until I reach his face and see what it is like then to see if it is worth carrying on. Any thoughts on this?

Very nice picture. Looks pretty good on the stitching so far, but will definitely have a much better idea once you get to his face!

It is hard to tell so soon but I am seeing the hair as opposed to the background. You are right though, with it being a black and white photo it is going to limit the choices you have to stitch with.

Also, it'll look more realistic when you step away from it -- with these photostitches when you're working on it and looking at it close-up it's just a jumble of odd and unexpected shades and doesn't look like naything, then you look at it from the distance that everyone is going to see it from and suddenly details appear!

I have given up with this one now as I did a bit of Steven Tyler's face and it looked nothing like the photo :x
But all is not lost because Skitzzzzz kindly offered to make me a photo chart of the Aerosmith concert I went to in June so it will mean more to me knowing that I was there! Here is the photo the chart is made from
Image
I can't wait to start it! Just going to finish a page of Wrath HAED and I will start this one!

Yes at least I will have some colours now. I think the black and white would have got very boring.
