Big Cats chart Kustom Krafts

Post by amyalice »

Hi
I have just bought 2 designs by Kustom Krafts - they are really beautiful. 1 is a tiger peeping through fronds, the other is a close up on a jaguars face.
BUT then I looked at the patterns - 9 pages of detailed symbols, mixed threads with only the minutest difference in colour, and overlaps.
has anyone ever done this type of pattern? I am very experienced but this looks rather daunting, probably that's why they are so beautiful!!

Yes, I bet they are lovely with all that detail.

When faced with charts like that, I normally make a working copy of the chart and stick it together so that I can see the whole design. I know it would be bulky, but I fold it to show just the section I'm working on. I would then use a highlighter to mark my position as I go. :)

I think my Water Tiger was a Kustom Craft kit and yes, they are very detailed. I honestly think if you sit and have a good look at the chart you will know that you can do it. I prefer small overlaps on pages as it means less chance of going wrong (well, for me anyway  ) and the similarity of colours will be worth it for the detail.

Once you become familiar with the symbols (and it may take a while and necessary to double check each time you change threads) you will really enjoy seeing these two beautiful designs come to life. :D

I did the Baby Tiger by Kustom Krafts and I don't remember having any trouble with it at all. I also don't remember any mixed threads, but maybe that's just my memory. The finished cross stitch looks really good so i'd definitely recommend doing one.
