OK, first a confession. I put my Owls project up as an SAL and was all set to go. Then I looked at the charts and was overwhelmed by the whole thing! I just couldn't face something that big yet when I haven't done any stitching for quite a while, so I dug something out of the depths of the stitching box for something less daunting. So this is a resurrected UFO, I guess!
Anyway, it's a map of the Lake District. Here's where I was up to when I found it:
(Also, my first attempt at inserting an image - hope it works!)

Oooh, lucky you, Mabel! My entire family are all big fans of the Lakes. I'm hoping to go again next spring. Haven't been for about 2 years and it's just too long!

This is lovely! I've seen a variety of stitchy maps of the Lakes and plan to do one, one of these days.
Me and OH are big fans of the Lakes although sadly we haven't managed to get there this year (very envious, Mabel!) - too much going on with me moving house for us to go away.
Nice to see you've picked up this UFO; looking forward to seeing more updates!
CURRENT WIPs
HAEDs - Bubble Telescope, Floatilla, Rainbow Embrace, Ray of Light, Iron Dragon, Newport Lighthouse
Fractal 239 Aero Chocolate
It looks great, I've been wanting to do something stitched of the lake district myself as my father-in-law has a boat on Lake Windermere, and the in-laws spend more weekends up there. Can't wait to go sailing up there again when we get back to the uk:)
I finally got a chance to do some more - 2 days off sick with a bad back and a weekend visit from my best friend and fellow stitcher who brought her stitching with her and spurred me on
It's a nice project to do - each element is quite small so I can finish one or two in a session (I'm not the fastest stitcher in the world), and each one completed gives you the feeling that you're actually getting somewhere! I really feel I'm getting back into my stitching now - it's a mixture of achievement and relief!

Great progress! I like projects like this where it's got individual bits on it. As you said, it feels like you're getting somewhere when you finish one of them.

I'm off on holiday on Saturday so I just wanted to post a quick update before I go:
I look at the progress reports on other people's SALs, especially the HAED ones, and all I can think is "My GOD, I'm slow!" But thank you everyone for all the comments so far. It really spurs me on to do more!
