Altoid tins

Post by Zeb »

This is aimed more at the members in the USA & Canada, as I believe it's in these countries that these tins are available.

I'm hoping to get a good supply of empty Altoid tins to use for finishing cross stitch with. Can anyone help?

Thanks.

I found this site. http://store.scrapbooking-warehouse.com/tins" target="_blank.

Michael's also has some but they don't give a price. :(

Hi Myst & Jan, I'd like to try my hand at making finished cross stitch altoid tins:

http://tts-tutorials.blogspot.com/2007/ ... orial.html" target="_blank

http://thestitchersabbey.blogspot.com/2 ... rance.html" target="_blank

I've got heaps of stitched pieces that would suit this method, but not the altoid tin.

Thanks Rose, unfortunately neither that store or Michaels ships internationally.

I wondered about that plus the price was a bit steep anyway. I will check around.

I have some tins that are the same size but not Altoids. I'll check around the apartment. I live with my mother who happens to be a packrat and collecting tins are just one of the things I'm always have to wait for her to go shopping to toss. If I find them I'll see if she'll let them go to you.

Here's what they are http://www.vitacost.com/Newmans-Own-Org ... 7645016308" target="_blank

They are fun to do. I modified this one from a Lorrie Birmingham kit several years ago. It used the altoid "valentine" tin.

One of my coworkers uses altoids. I'll see if she keeps the tins.

Thanks :)
Am hoping to do bulk lots as I know shipping will be expensive so want to maximise on it.

Thanks all for the interest, I've got a friend in the US whose currently chowing her way through Altoids for me, so hope to have something to show before the end of this year.

I looked on ebay and there were a couple places that had 12 for $1.99 but the shipping cost was $24.00 That is just rediculous or I would have offered to get them for you.

 omg that IS ridiculous! $24 to me I could accept but to you? Sheesh! :(
I've been stung a few times where the seller charged me a huge amount for a tiny tiny item. Unfortunately with my location there is no way I can know the cost the seller will charge when I make a bid on an item.

But thanks, I'll set eBay up to email me every time an auction pops up with altoid tins :)

I checked with my Altoids munching coworker, but her husband claims them all for small parts storage. Sorry, no joy. :(

I've followed Twisted Stitcher tutorials a few different times.. I love that they photograph each step.. I think their instructions are easy to follow and easy to adapt depending on the measurements of whatever I have to work with.

Good luck with your tin boxes.. I'll keep an eye out for any I can send you.
