Sarah83s Winnie the Pooh 1st Dec

Post by Sarah83 »

I'm not going to post a picture of what the finished thing will look like as it would be ridiculously easy to follow the pattern from the picture on the front of the kit and having read the copyright thread I'm guessing that's not a good idea.

Here's what I've done so far. One leg and his stomach but I think he looks rather like a lopsided, out of proportion goblet of some sort.
Image

And this is the winter scene I mentioned in my introduction post for those who read it. All the instructions are in Japanese or Chinese or something but I'm going to give it a try anyway because there's no real reason not to. I've not started it yet as it's absolutely huge and I wanted to do something smaller for my first few attempts.

The Japanese design looks huge!!! It's going to look gorgeous when completed... If you do get stuck with the design being in Japanese, I'm sure Babelfish or a similiar translating site could help :)

Pooh is looking good and yes when we first start it can look a bit odd. Once I started an angel, (I like to follow one color until the thread runs out or I can skip to a new location) wen I finished off my thread my hubby walked by and said are you doing a map? :thinks: I asked why and he said,"well that looks like Italy." Sure enough it actually did look like the shape Itally would be.

Good luck with the winter scene when you decide to start it.

Well, here's Winnie after I worked on him yesterday.

Image

Seem to be getting a lot of white showing through on him for some reason. It looks worse in the photo than it does in real life though.

Looks great so far. Don't worry about the white showing through too much. You could check your tension, but I think itlloks good.

Pooh looks just right and don't worry about the white (I can't really see it by the way), you will not look at it from that close when it is finished. :)

Thanks everyone :D Working on his head at the moment and having a few problems with his mouth. The chart isn't very easy to read in that area as there are quite a few fractional stitches in red and black and the symbol on the chart for red is a square, the symbol on the chart for black is a slightly bigger square  Add all the backstitching to it and it's hard to figure out whether I'm stitching red or black. Using guesswork and the picture of the finished design to try and work it out.

Coming along quite nicely now. Just Winnies nose and part of his mouth to do and then I have to learn to do french knots for his eyes  Tigger is coming along nicely too although I am sick to the back teeth of yellow! Made a start on the winter scene and I'm stitching yellow on that too  Not worth putting pics of it up yet though, I've only done about 25 stitches which are lost in the vast expanse of white aida I need to cover.
