My friend has asked me to make a couple of tree decorations for her nieces this christmas. She wants some small cushion style decorations. I haven't gotten round to making a biscornu yet but I do have instructions on how to make one. My question is, to make a small square cushion (not the eight sided shape) do I just stitch it up the same way I would a biscornu? I've just tried to stitch a very tiny one with scraps of aida just to practice but I can see the stitching around the edges but with a biscornu you can't! Where am I going wrong? It'll be the first time I've made anything like this so I want to get it right.

I've made biscornu-shaped, square and octagonal little cushions all using the same type of finish -- take the two pieces of fabric, backstitch the same outline on both of them, and attach them to each other by whipstitching through the backstitch. You can add a bead every other stitch to make it extra special !
Thanks all! And thank you Mabel, your decorations are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing them with me. I will post some pictures when I complete mine

What about this type of finish? I think I learned it from Linda (Mauveme).
As it can be seen, this is just one square, you fold in the corners and whipstitch them together. No real filling needed, just some iron-on type, a layer or two.
