Stress...Stress...Stress

Well ladies and gents, I just have to vent my stress over the month of October.

Today is my bf's mother's bday, the 11th is my Bradley's bday, the 15th is my mum's bday. I finish uni at the end of this month and have a 3000-word essay due the same day my 15000 word thesis is supposed to be due! Luckily I have an extension...which leads me to November!

November 7th is Melbourne Cup day, the day that stops the city... Nov 9th we're seeing Phantom of the Opera at the theatre, Nov. 11th is my dad's bday, Nov. 12 is MY BDAY, Nov. 14 is my brother-in-laws bday, end of Nov. my thesis is due, 25th Nov is both my poppy's bday AND my little cousin is making her First Communion!!!!


Can anyone see why I stressed? I've got no time to stitch!!!! :x

PS. Oh yeah, some where in November my bf's aunty is expecting her first child, a little girl going to be named Mikayla, so I'm gonna stitch a sampler for her too!!!

I would say that we won't be seeing alot of you for the rest of this month and in to November.

Don't over stress as that will only make you ill. Do what you can the rest will work itself out.

O and remember Stressed is only Desserts spelled backwards!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

ugh! sounds like my last finals week at the university. i was sitting down writing a report and suddenly felt really off, then realized i had been so busy i had forgotten to eat for a day and a half :shock: i feel your pain!

Sounds like my family: very busy autumn (or should I say, very busy February once upon a time :shock: ). Get stocked up on those birthday cards now.

You'll know all the essay tricks by now (tho bad luck to have essay and thesis clashing!) and know the value of a kick-ass outline. What you might find is that the essay is difficult to wind up at 3,000 words because you've been working on the thesis and are used to having more elbow room.

Well, as the Gaffer said, it's the job that's never begun that takes longest to finish. Onward and upward! May your pen flourish!

I agree with Serinde with the need for a great outline, saves so much effort later. I remember doing my own research project for my degree. It will all be over soon. :)

Don't forget to have some 'me' time too, Louise.

I always found that a schedule helped me to cope with study and 'life'. I used a large planner so everything was visual and I could see where deadlines and important dates were. I'm not saying I always kept to it, but it made me feel as though I was organised. One in lots of pretty colours works well! :roll: However, if you don't keep to it, take care not to spend more time re-working your NEW schedule!! :shock:

I have a completely different outlook. Get stressed, Get sick... Then you can take half a day (or even a full day :shock: ) to stay home & stitch... under the pretense of relaxing helping sickness & all... :lol: :lol:

Or you could be responible :P , but that's never any fun.

I do remember when I was in University, never had to do a thesis (dropped out after I couldn't get into my art program), but I do give you my sympathies!

hmm, that approach really doesn't work for me, as I'm getting sick all the time already because of stress.

Sick again this morning with a bout of gastro, had to call in sick to work at the last minute. Boss wasn't happy.

Gonna be interesting tomorrow when I want to ask for two weeks off so I can complete my thesis.

An instant calmer which helps to restore the yin/yang balance:

Using your thumb, press the right nostril shut. Breathe in, keeping the right nostril closed. I usually count to about 7. Now press the left nostril shut as well, using the third finger of your right hand. Count to 16 if you can and hold the breath. Release your right nostril and exhale gently. Repeat the exercise with the left nostril closed. Repeat the whole thing five times and do the exercise calmly and slowly.

OR/AND

Start at the top of your head and work your way down relaxing every little part of you. Imagine each part you are thinking about is melting. You will be amazed how tense your jaw is and even your fingers. While you are doing this, breathe slowly and deeply using your diaphragm - push out your tummy when you breathe in.

Wendy is right - stress is real and can make you ill. It's worth learning techniques to deal with it if your life is stressful. What about learning yoga or tai chi?

I'm sure you'll feel so much better when your thesis is done.

i did this almost daily a couple weeks ago when stress was getting really high for me. every night i was suprised how much my chest and stomach hurt after i did this :shock: i never realized how much of an impact stress has on your body until i started doing this.

Oh, you've been stressed too long then!

I'm sorry... No you do need to be responsible. Not much fun, but every once in a while you can't avoid that! :?

:idea: Try getting a CD of meditation music, or from whatever search engine you use... Then try doing nothing for 1/2 hour before bed (if possible, or while you're falling asleep if not), and concentrate on the music.

This will lead to relaxation, and therefore less stress... It's almost like meditation!

Get better, and drink plenty of water! Our bodies tend to tense up more if we're not getting enough to drink!
