Rach's Vase Silhouette

Post by GeekyRach »

I thought that after finishing my Scarlet Quince piece I'd want a few day's break before starting my next project, but after finishing last night I woke up ready and raring to go on my next project! I'm stitching Vase Silhouette which is a kit from maia. Here's a pic of the finished design.

Image

The kit comes with 16 count tan aida but I'm not too keen on the colour, it's a lot darker and more orangey than it appears in the picture, so I've swapped it for 32 count natural linen. This should also make the stitching a bit quicker as there are a lot of fractional stitches in this one! I love the simplicity of this design, there's only 4 colours to it which will be nice after the 120 in my last project! Once it's done it will be going over the fireplace in my living room as it will be the first decent sized project I've ever completed for myself!

I'll be making a start this afternoon so will post a pic in a few days once I've got something worth looking at :D

Yes, it's really nice! And since I had a look at the larger image, I can see there are only 4 colours - so a nice fast stitch, even with the fractionals. :D Looking forward to seing your progress. :)

What a great project and I agree about the fabric change - my eyes go immediately the fabric on the cover pic.

Enjoy it all.

What a lovely design, and incredible that the designer achieved this effect with only four colours -- less is definitely more!

Here's my start on this one.

Image

Not much to see yet but I'm loving how fast it's going by with the big block of colour. After blending and swapping colours every 5 minutes on my last project this is like having a holiday! I'm also really glad I decided to change the fabric, the fractional stitches are a breeze and I think the bold colour really pops out of the more muted colour :)

You've made a great start on this and I agree that changing the fabric makes this stand out better than the original. Looks like it's going to work up really quickly too.
