Angels 'tween projects

Post by Angel »

I thought I'd make a new thread for my little inbetween projects. They're not big enough for their own thread, but still worth a mention I think. I'll be stitching them inbetween working on my big project. Dependant on the mood I'm in when I start, so it doesn't get stale.

My first 'tween project is for the facebook challenge. This one is for my big sister, Lynn. It's called Sisters and chocolate and it's by Claire Crompton

I got the book Naughty but nice cross stitch from....MY LOCAL LIBRARY!!! How amazing is that? I have to return it in three weeks, so here's to a quick stitch.

hehe isn't it sweet? I don't usually go for blocky things like this. I like high count fabric that I can finish smoothly...this one is probably the only time I will ever choose 14count fabric on purppose, but...It's so adorable I couldn't resist it. It's just perfect and I think Lynn will enjoy it too. I'm going to put some chocolate in with it when I mail it to her too ^_^ She's all the way in GA so I can't give it personally.

As you can see, I chose to stitch it on a tan fabric...mostly because I didn't have any white the right size. Unfortunately, this is the second time I started it as the first time I did, I miscounted and had to frog EVERYTHING I'd done :P

I like it better on the tan fabric instead of the white; keeps more in theme with chocolate colors, sort of like a mocha color. Hope things go more smoothly for the rest of the project!

The only problem is, I'm not sure the word Sisters stands out well enough against the fabric.... Of course 2 of our lightbulbs in the lounge have gone out so it's really quite dark as the only one still working is pointed at the door...>_< But the word isn't actually backstitched in the design and I'm wondering if it will hold it's own against the fabric or if I will have to backstitch it...

It's hard to tell really, but even if, when you get it in good light, you decide it will need a bit of help, it could be a good excuse to use some brown metallics or something special to lift it?

I went to hobbycraft yesterday and bought some heart shaped buttons as well as the threads I had been missing and this is how much I managed to get done:

Image

You probably can't tell, but there are a couple of mistakes in this that I'm not even going to attempt to frog. Both the capitol letters are two stitches too thin and the C is a stitch too short. But...I don't think it's noticable and I'm covering with the other box to make the spacing work.
