Scrub A Dub Dub *almost finished*

Post by MaggieM1750 »

Well.. since my baby projects are done for the moment, its time for something new. This will be my traveling project. Since dad caught me earlier in the week, I can't work on his lighthouses at work anymore. I needed something new that I could work on during my lunch hour. And something I can take with me on a flight next week and while waiting in the airport... fingers crossed I can get my needles through security again!

Scrub A Dub Dub by Raise the Roof Designs.
I am stitching this on the same 18 ct light blue aida as Dad's Lighthouses.
Overall size is 213 x 100 stitches.

And like normal, I am making some minor modifications to this chart. I am stitching it for my sister who is an OB/GYN resident. With the help of her husband, I am switching the color of the scrubs so they match hers. And I am switching out the X-Ray with a sonogram. Instead of the purple gloves, I'll be changing those out for forceps.

Image

Some of the threads. The red is an overdyed thread from Weeks Dye Works. It makes me nervous.. that will be the last thing stitched!
Image

And the button pack.. who would ever think of making up a bed pan button!?! Honestly.. a bed pan button, sonogram and forceps?? It will be original.. thats for sure! The little round button is for the stethoscope.

That looks like a really neat gift. I wonder if they had to have those bedpan buttons specially made?? very odd indeed!

you could do a fetal heart monitor as well. they have the ones that hook up to the big computer and then, we used one in the ER called a "doppler" it looked sorta like the stethoscope but had a different end on it...and instead of the ekg lines at the top you could use contraction monitor graphs

sorry ideas flooded :)

Well, I have finally started on this project.
This has become my lunch time stitchy since I can no longer bring in Dad's lighthouses.
I am a bit all over on this little guy and making a real mess of my fabric with my washable marker. But the spacing is so important. I have shrunk it a bit, taking out 20 or so odd stitches so it will fit into the frame I have. Which really shouldn't be a big deal because I am leaving out one of the purple gloves.. I think they look creepy. Deleting one all together and replacing the other one with a pair of forceps.

The open black square is what I have to work with for switching out the charted X-Ray with a sonogram. I still haven't worked that one out yet, but I think a blended needle of black and greys is the route I am going to go. The brown blob in the lower right corner is the lid to something.. I am thinking its the bin you throw your dirty scrubs in at the end of the day? I finally figured out the other brown thing is in the bottom right of the chart (not stitched yet) it's the headboard to a bed, with the remote control dangling over the top.. that one took me a while to figure out. I've also been trying to decide if I should try to fit in a scrub cap somewhere.. along the bottom by the shoes. My sister makes her own and I guess they have sort of become a statement piece. Alright.. enough of my ramblings.
