Help with finding middle of design

I just purchased the Thomas Kinkade Disney (pinnochio and also the cinderella), opened the package and there is no obvious centre point for the design (usually there is a mark to say this is the centre point), the chart is on A3 sheets (double sided).

I have never found this before, so would I be better to grid the design out, if so how do I do this, as never done that before.

Just an idea... if there is a picture of the finished design, you can fold that in half each way to find the center of it, then find the corresponding place on the chart. You might not get the exact center, but a few stitches off center is not a problem.

Does it give the stitch count anywhere? If so, divide both of them by two and count from the top right (or any other corner). If there is no stitch count, I'm afraid there is no other option than to count the width and height of the design, and then work out the middle

nope unfortunately no stitch count so looks like griding the only option, bit worried as never done it before, will have to get one of the fabric pens that can wash out too

You don't need to grid your fabric to find the centre of the design -- just count the squares on the chart (not all of them -- one row along the top to give you the width, one column along the side to give you the height). You will end up with something like 200w x 100h (I don't mean your figures will be anything like that, just that you will come up with two numbers) -- this is your "stitch count".

You can use this stitch count for various things; one is to find the centre of your chart.
If your chart is 200w x 100h, then from the top left count 100 stitches to the left and 50 stitches down, and you've found the centre of the chart. Now find the centre of your fabric and you can start stitching!

you can also use the stitch count to determine what size your finished project will be and how much fabric you will need. If your chart is 200w x 100h and you want to work on 14ct aida, the design will be 200/14 x 100/14 inches; add two or three inches all around and that's how much fabric you'll need.

this will help alot, the design is 16x12 inches finished so will do that and and hope it works out, it's strange all the kits I have worked on in the past have always had a line or mark that says centre of design but these don't

Sounds like the centre is 8 inches in one direction and 6 inches in the other. Fold your fabric to find its centre, then measure out from the fabric centre to find out where the edges would be. (I'd still start stitching from the centre, however, in this case, if only for safety!)

I have already done that with the fabric, but its actually trying to find the centre of the chart, as its on A3 and double sided, very strange, as I said there is no mark to say this is the centre line, will have to count them as Mabel suggested to see where to start.

Desparate to start it, as it just looks soo cute.

I have the cinderella kit (actually started working on it yesterday!). On page 3 of 6, which is the top left of the design, there are arrows pointing from the top and the left side which will cross at the middle of the design.

No problem! It's the largest project I've worked on to date, so I was quite overwhelmed with getting it started. Good luck!

you will do fine, I was the same with geishas as there are 43 colours in it, but easier now

Guess what, I FOUND IT!!!! Eventually, the arrows are so small.

So decided to start it this morning (work tea break), oh my god, there are alot of threads in this one, thankfully they have sorted them all on cards. Might start doing what alot of others do, and do a rotation, as I have so many that I want to do.
