Unicorn with new colors

I am using this unicorn in a birth sampler to my niece. I found the pattern on the internet some ten years ago, but it was then all in blue and had a rainbow, as you can see at the top right. I changed the colors to white/grey with yellow mane and tail.
Today I added the horn and hoofs. I was going to use DMC metallic gold or Kreinik #4 braid for both, but stitching with the braid was like stitching with a piece of wire. Also I wanted a smoother, softer look. Stored close to my metallics I found a box of old handme-down rayon floss. There were two shades of gold, and I picked the darker. For the horn I found some ivory rayon floss, then I used gold filament to backstitch around it and over it.
All that needs to be done is the eye, and then of course the name, date etc. I will save that for tomorrow. I am very pleased with how my unicorn turned out. Also I learned the use of rayon floss, it really was an eye opener!

Love the colour changes. I think your choices look better than the original!
I'm also liking the bling, I'm impressed with the horn and his sparkly hooves, well done, he's lovely
Are you going to stitch the rainbow too in nice shiny metallics?

Good on you for experimenting with the floss and the colour changes. It has worked out really really well. I agree about not putting the rainbow in too, it would distract the eye from the unicorn.

Great conversion to the different colours! The white looks much better than the blue to my eye.

So pretty. I love the colors and the texture of the horn and hooves. There are so many different types of thread now that the options and choices can be overwhelming. You did really good with what you picked.
Your niece is very fortunate.
