Cutwork mat.

This was my "homework from class this Easter hols. I was to complete all the stitching on this mat ready for cutting on Wednesday morning.
It is worked solely in button hole stitch using a varigated green floss from Anchor.

It looks great. Lol I had the same homework only mine was red varigated button holing around four coasters ready for cutting 8} I can't post pictures from my phone though.

The colours on this are great, and your stitching looks lovely and regular! Buttonhole stitch is so useful, it's a shame I really can't stand it... :-)

It looks really lovely Midge and just love the lighter green in amongst the others. Good luck with the cuttting.

It reminds me I have a stamped piece of irises somewhere that was my mothers and I've not been game to start as it has a lot of cut work on it. Might do it one day

Just the regular 6 stranded thread. I used 2 strands throughout.
I found it a bit awkward to start with - button hole stitch - but once I got into a rhythym, I really enjoyed it.
