This was my "homework from class this Easter hols. I was to complete all the stitching on this mat ready for cutting on Wednesday morning.
It is worked solely in button hole stitch using a varigated green floss from Anchor.

Oh, that is so pretty. I have hardly used variegated threads, but you make it very tempting.

The colours on this are great, and your stitching looks lovely and regular! Buttonhole stitch is so useful, it's a shame I really can't stand it... :-)

By the way, is it floss or perle or something else altogether?

It looks really lovely Midge and just love the lighter green in amongst the others. Good luck with the cuttting.

It reminds me I have a stamped piece of irises somewhere that was my mothers and I've not been game to start as it has a lot of cut work on it. Might do it one day

Sally.

Just the regular 6 stranded thread. I used 2 strands throughout.
I found it a bit awkward to start with - button hole stitch - but once I got into a rhythym, I really enjoyed it.
