Bad news

[Mabel Figworthy]

Hope you won't mind me sharing -- my mum had to have a lump in her groin removed last week and today she got the result and it's cancer, but it doesn't originate in the lump; so now she needs to have lots of tests, there are some swellings in her abdomen which they think may be the source, and then she may need another operation, or chemo, or both.
For the moment we've decided (or she has -- I'm leaving it very much with her) that I won't go over to the Netherlands as she says she'll just be having all these tests and sleeping a lot, but if she does need the op I will probably go over there for a week or so to look after her when she comes out.

So very sorry to hear about your mum. I think that you are both totally right about the timing of you going to be with her. So often people just to attention and then find that it would have been better to have delayed their actions. There is so much more that can be done for cancer patients now so do not lose heart. sorry to hear... my mom is going thru chemo atm and had a masectomy... it can be tough especially if you do not live near her...I talk to her alot on the phone and my sister and brother are both living close to her now ....
