Charity Shops!!!!

Post by destructiveernie »

Aren't they fab!!!!

Sorry but its new to me. I never really bothered but whilst on maternity leave I walked into town with my daughter in the pram, a few quid in my pocket and looked round them all!!!!

Now I never buy full price Cross Stitch Magazine as two of the charity shops always have loads!!!!

Now I'm back at work its idea, a lunchtime wonder round magazine shopping!!!!! I haven't brought a full price magazine in months. Just picked up two Cross Stitch Gold for 40p!!!!!

Sorry just had to share cos no one else understands!!!!!!!!!!!!

They sure are treasure troves rather than shops. I found them very helpful for unloading lots of my stash (mostly quilting stuff) before I moved up here.

I adore them - the one near me always has tons of stitchy stash - usually brand new rolls of fabric or pattern books. Love them - make a point to stop at least once (or more) a month to see what they've gotten in. In fact just went by today and picked up a lovely little basket, a couple of tubes of fabric and a stamp (snowflakes)

We have LOADS of charity shops in Aberdeen and I've never once found any stitchy stash or cross stitch books or mags in any of them. :( I did once pick up a couple of books in a second hand book shop, but never in a charity shop. I'm beginning to think tat theres either not much of a stitching community in Aberdeen, or we all hang onto our stash with both hands and refuse to let go - LOL!

Stitching doesn't seem to be very popular in my area, so I've never been lucky enough to find stitching stash or magazines in the local resale shops my area of the USA. Unless someone knows of some good places in the Chicago area and would be willing to share the secret? :)

I did find some cross-stitch patterns & books at a used bookshop in Michigan recently, but that's the best I've been able to do.
