I like these cross stitches but they are a little naughty. Maybe at certain areas of the stitching. Although there were others my husband would have really liked I knew I would not be able to stitch them.
These are from celtic rose designs and called blue shadow and Prussian Blue.
I am going to see if I can stitch on black and just do the shadow not the background.
will post progress

They really are lovely. It will be interesting to see how they do on black fabric.

My white wolves are on black (UFO) and I haven't really had issues stitching on it. I do have a good light, so that may make the difference. I think its 16 or 18ct, so as you say, that may help.

thanks.... I think it will be ok... may just mean I need to concentrate harder or do this one in daylight. But reassuring that people seem fairly ok with sewing on black.

I've got a few of the naughty Celtic Rose bookmarks too. I found out about them from Slinky. Haven't started them yet- just waiting for some time to open up in my stitch schedule and needed to increase my thread stash.. mine are of lovely chesty men so I needed a bunch of skin shades.
As for stitching on black. My current project, Noel, is on 18 ct black aida. Along with the good lighting like the others have said, my other tip for dark fabrics is to drape a light towel across your lap- dishtowel, white pillowcase, paper towels, something. I need the contrast of seeing solid white behind the dark fabric. I focus more on the holes and don't really "see" the fabric.
Yeah, I think I did that too. I was 16 then so since I don't have bad memories of it I guess it was just fine. I do remember focusing on the holes though, counting holes instead of squares, if that makes sense to you.

First time I've ever heard of these "naughty" stitches.. I guess in terms of stitching they are pretty naughty.. I think these will be beautiful when completed
