Fantasy Biscornu

Post by starchild202 »

So. . . would anybody be up for a Fantasy themed biscornu exchange? I haven't participated in an exchange in a while, and I really love doing them! I know Fantasy is a bit broad, but that is part of the fun of it. Anything from magic, to faeries, to science fiction would apply. If you are not sure just ask me. :)

Theme: Fantasy
Size: 3 - 4.5 inches (any size within that range)
Fabric: Any - stitcher's choice
Threads / Bling: Something a little extra, like metallic thread, bead work, etc.
Mailing: Get proof of postage (receipt)

Final sign-up date: 10th of September 2011
Finished date: 20th of October 2011
Mail out date: 25th of October 2011

- All participants must have posted to say their biscornu is completed by the finish date.

- Any participant who has failed to post saying they have finished stitching by that date will be assumed to have pulled out.

- The list detailing who each participant will send to will be posted 22nd of October, leaving plenty of time for the sender to get the address of their recipient.

- Anyone who doesn't have their location on their profile, can you please mention where you are, so that it's easier for me to work out for those who wish to post only to specific places.

I borrowed and adjusted Kell's rules from the Christmas biscornu exchange.

Check it out here

I'm interested in this if I can get home by then (I'm stuck staying with friends for a few weeks) September 10 should be possible, plus it's an auspicious date being my bday and all. :)

I don't think I will be exchanging as I have never done one and with my HAED's and now signing up for the StitchSpecialists SAL's I would never get it done in time, but really hope that those of you who do will post pics for the rest of us to see. Then maybe I will be able to participate in the next exchange. I don't want to say yes and then not be able to.

I plan to join, but I'm having some trouble trying to find a fantasy design that would work for a biscornu. I'll keep looking! Theresa

Edited to add: I'm in Texas but will send anywhere.

Mauveme, all the instructions I've seen for Biscornu use a square motif that is symmetrical, since it will be pulled together in the center. In trying to find something appropriate for Fantasy, I've really had a difficult time. There are loads of pretty patterns and Halloween items, but nothing fit what I was looking for - a pattern with dragons, fairies, elves, unicorns, etc. that was symmetrical but not cheesey. I wanted to participate, so I finally found a dragon freebie that might work, though he will have to be somewhat distorted when the center is pulled in.

Starchild 202, should we consider modifying the exchange, since we're having so much trouble with a fantasy biscornu? One possibility would be to make it an Autumn Biscornu, where we could either use an Autumn-specific design or stitch a lovely symmetrical motif in Autumn colors. Alternatively, we could keep the fantasy theme, but do something other than a biscornu?

I have been looking to and fantasy is going to be very difficult to find something small enough for biscornu.

You don't have to add a button if you don't want. Add a cord or ribbon to make it a hanging ornament without the button.

It is funny, because what inspired the theme was me going through my patterns and finding a robot, dragon, and mermaid biscornu pattern and wanting a reason to stitch them up and also do an exchange. We could make it more relaxed and do a pattern that contains a specific color? I am not apposed to autumn, if you guys want to do that though.

I apologize, but I think I need to bow out of this one. Besides having trouble finding an appropriate design for a fantasy biscornu, I found out that a group I belong to is having a special exchagne I must do. At the same time, I'm working on my dissertation and may be running into overload. I'll check back when I'm less busy!
