Heaven and Earth Designs

Post by galmal »

Hi, I've seen people talking about HAED and really like some of their patterns. Has anyone done one of their designs? Did you like the results? Was the finished product sharp and clear? I just finished doing a computer generated pattern from another site and was very dissappointed in the quality - it was fuzzy and kind of "pixelated". It looks ok from a distance but not up close. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Marian

You can check out the Stitch-Along section of the forum, a lot of people are working on 1 or more HAED designs (including me). Also on HAED's website they have a gallery page, with tons of finished pictures :)

I recently completed this HAED Wrath and I am very pleased with it. The only thing with HAED's is they take a long time and have a lot of confetti so you need a great deal of patience and dedication.

I haven't found a pattern on the site that really grabs me enough to warrant the amount of dedication they take but the ones I've seen completed here and on the HAED site and the WIPS here honestly look great. I wouldn't hesitate if they had a design I was keen on.

All this talk about the HAED's sent me back to their site again for an updated look around! I'd ordered several charts a few years ago but haven't made the actual stitching plunge yet.

Anyway, I finally narrowed my order list down to these two:
Past Present Future

One Light

Now it will be a toss  up as to which do I start first!! I'm open to suggestions...

Those are both beautiful designs. I loved the colors of Past Present Future. If you chose One Light though make sure you can handle all the black that you will be stitching. My LOTR has 27 skeins of black and I looked and One Light has 57 skeins. (I have learned to check the floss usage charts). That is a lot of black. I don't know if doing it on a black fabric would get the right effect though because of all the lovely stars in the sky, but it might. I hope you pick one to do because either would be so much fun to watch your updates.

I did check out the floss usage because I wanted to make sure it wasn't done on black fabric!! Even with a light table on my lap, my eyes just can't take working on black fabric anymore. The black floss will be bad enough!

If you decide on One Light, I will be here to encourage you on through the black stitching. I have admired those who have done a lot of the single color stitching which a lot of the HAED designs require. I think I prefer the confetti but have to admit there is a kind of relaxing element to only having the one color to do for such large sections. Its great when you are watching a mystery or listening to a complicated audiobook because you don't have to concentrate as much on the stitching. I had to be careful though because every once in a while a different color stitch is thrown in. I think they do it to keep you on your toes.
