Love sampler

Ok, so I have loads of other projects on, but I saw this and had a real urge to stitch it so I did!!



Its a kit, which has reminded me why I hate them! I've changed the fabric to a nice linen instead of 16 ct aida, and I hate having my threads on cards! Give me bobbins any day.

I've made a few mistakes on this, colour wise, but the nice thing about a sampler is that you can get away with it!

I've done as far as the year now, will take another pic tomorrow. Am waiting for a friend to chose a birth sampler!

what a beautiful sampler!! I love it and much prefer your choice of linen for it too! I definitely agree about the kits--they seem to be too much work, give me charts any day!!!

I love samplers and this one has one of my favorite motifs, the leaping stag. Very pretty!

Very pretty. I love samplers too but you reminded me why I hate kits and do charts. I will very much enjoy watching your updates on this one. It almost has me changing my mind about kits I liked it so much. Almost.

Got further than this, but here is a pic from yesterday. Slower progress today as my main sewing finger got chomped by my horse!



My mum likes it so much she's going to do it as well! She's a very novice cross stitcher and has ground to a halt on a difficult canal design, and I think this will get her stitching better to give her practise.

Great progress. I hope your finger gets better soon. Main stitching finger? Ouch! But slow is better than not being able to stitch at all. I hope your mother gets the practice she needs to so she can get back to working on what sounds like a lovely piece. A canal landscape? I bet it has a lot of confetti and fractionals too. This sampler would be fun for a fairly new stitcher, I would think.
