I do so love to stitch but the only place I can do so is in my recliner next to my Daylight magnifying lamp which clamps onto a nearby table. I am unable to follow a chart or make my stitches on any size of fabric without magnification. I am going to be heading out of town today, not returning until tomorrow, & it would sure be nice to be able to stitch in the car while traveling or in the hotel room tonight ... but there is no way I can do this without some kind of magnification.
I was wondering if I bought a pair of high-power reading glasses if this would be helpful? My prescription readers, which are fine for everything else, aren't helpful by themselves when I'm stitching.
Once upon a time I tried that magnification thingie you wear around your neck & balance on your chest. I didn't like that at all. I think that in the past I've seen little magnifiers you can clamp to a hoop or frame but I haven't seen them recently & have no idea if they would do a good job or not.
Any ideas?

Shirlee

Re: Light/Magnification Help Wanted
I bought a pair of magnifiers that clip onto my glasses. I also have an ott light and with both of these I am able to stitch on 25 and up count. I am ok without magnifiers on 22/18 count but the higher counts are a little harder. I found my magnifiers at Hobby Lobby, they weren't expensive and do a great job.
Good luck

Here is a couple of ideas:
MagEyes Magnifier Glasses. I have not used them, but I have heard they are very good. You can wear them with your prescription glasses.
Their website gives a detailed description: http://www.mageyes.com/default.htm" target="_blank" and I've seen them for sale at 1-2-3-Stitch.
Mini Flexilens Magnifier. This clamps on the hoop. http://www.herrschners.ca/" target="_blank"
Click on Cross stitch and then Tools and accessories/ magnifiers.
Hope that helps.

Did you know that Ott Light now makes a battery powered fold-up light? I've thought about it for those times when I'm not near an outlet.
It seems I've also seen some very small versions, but haven't researched it - just kind of remember it from wandering around in Michael's.

I know that walmart and CVS here in the states sells them. Not sure about what strength you would need though.
