11 count Aida

How many threads do I use on 11 count Aida. Bought a Panda kit in China but instructions are in Chinese.Would appreciate urgent reply as itching to start it.

I've never stitched on 11 count before but would say possibly 3 maybe 4 (14 is the biggest I've ever stitched on and I use 2 strands) - do a little test patch and see what gives the best coverage for you - there are no hard or fast rules regardless of what kits say (especially if they are in Chinese !).

Thanks for reply mrs Milky Bar Kid. The kit comes complete with thread9of which there seems to be a lot) so think 3 strands is probably good. As its DMC thread are the shades/colours the same worldwide as, if so and I, I run out will be able to top up in UK. Any comments?

I would say 3 or 4 strands

But as said do a test bit and see which covers best

There should be numbers on the chart to say how many threads you need to stitch with Chinese or English numbers are all the same? I have several kits from China and all mine that are on 11 count aida are using 3 strands, you can use 4 but might run out of thread if the kit says 3 strands? Hope this helps, I would use 3 strands.

If it is DMC thread, if you run out you will be able to get more thread easily as long as they have the thread numbers listed to match up the colours - the numbers are the same where ever you are. DMC say they don't have dyelots (i.e their thread colours are consistently the same) - sometimes stitchers have found this not to be the case and colours have differed very slightly when they are supposedly the same number, but I think this is rare.
