I have so many kits and patterns that I want to stitch for me, but when I saw this on the HAED site, I knew DH would love to have it. He loves eagles. So, instead of stitching one of the 3 Dimension eagle kits I have waiting to do for him, I started this one. I started it Jan. 16th at the hospital when FIL was having his surgery since there are large sections of single colors. DH and DS were both under the weather on Saturday, so I couldn't do laundry or dishes since our bedroom is right next to the kitchen & laundry room. I ended up putting 1700+ stitches into this. My goal is to get the first page done before the end of the year. The nice thing is that the wing appears on the first page--you can see the space where it goes already.
Here's what it will look like when it is eventually finished:
Here's where I am (37% of page 1 done):

Sorry, I forgot to mention that info. It's 28 count evenweave (monoco I believe) in a dove grey. I'm doing 2 over 1 tent stitch. The pattern is 450 stitches by 562 stitches. It will be just over 16"x20" when finished.

It won't actually be a gift. There's no way I could stitch something this big with as long as it's going to take without DH knowing about it. Plus, I had to make sure it was a pattern he liked. I did use it as leverage though. I was winding bobbins Christmas Day at my in-laws while we were talking. DH made a comment about it, and I simply said that if he wanted the eagle, he couldn't give me a hard time. (I always have to be doing something with my hands. You'll know I'm extremely stressed or not feeling well when my hands are still.)

That is a beautiful eagle design. It's great when the main focus of the picture appears early in the stitching. It provides motivation! You've made a great start!

You have made a great start and isn't it encouraging to see where the wing will go.Sally
I've already done 1 Dimension Gold eagle for him a few years ago (The Promise). I have 3 other Dimension Gold eagle kits waiting in my stash. I started one over a year ago on vacation and haven't pulled it out since.
I can't wait to put the wing in. I'm trying to be good and put in the background on this page first. Actually, I've only been working on it when I can't really concentrate or away from home so I only take 1 or 2 colors.
