Clear file binders for pattern storage

Post by Zeb »

I'm looking to find clear file plastic slips that I can insert into binders. I want to organise all my charts into these so I can easily store and access my collection of patterns.

The problem is all the slips I can find are A4 in size, and not all the patterns are A4. Most of than not, many are slightly wider than A4.

Can anyone recommend
a) the correct size I should be getting
b) online stores that sell them (and hopefully ship internationally)

Thanks :)

You've probably already done this; but, have you checked out the local or online office supply stores?

Hey Jarvis, yes I have. Unfortunately NZ only seems to stock standard A4 sizing. Next size up is A3 which is massive.

I've heard that sizing is a little different in America?

Yes, most of our office sundries use North American Loose or ANSI sizes. That said, most of the large office supply chains offer ISO 216 sized products. There's decent break-down of the sizes here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_size" target="_blank" target="_blank You might dink around on Google using variations on binder sleeves, paper sleeves, etc. using some of the sizes or standards. You never know, you may get lucky.

Sorry that's not much help.

Standard paper size in the US is 8 1/2 by 11 inches, which may be why some of your charts are slightly larger than A4. Just about any US office supply store will carry paper sleeves in 8 1/2 x 11.

Would it be simply easier just to get a paper cutter and cut off a bit of the edge where it is just white paper and then it will fit a standard A4 folder, that is what I do.

I have the same problem in Australia, but some time ago I did source some in the US but I can't remember where I ordered them from Where in Auckland are you? I grew up in Birkenhead on the North Shore and then spend about 40 years in Mt. Roskill before moving over here.

Are you looking for the clear plastic page protectors that fit into binders?
They wouldn't hold a big chart.. like a HAED.. but they will certainly fit 2-3 pages. If those are what you are looking for- PM me your address and I will send you some. I just came across a package at the office and no one around here uses them (I was cleaning out a desk after someone retired.. he kept EVERYTHING!!)
