I have fallen in love with this - GOT IT!!!

Post by vanessanjf »

I really shouldn't keep browsing cross stitch sites. I have fallen in love with this one
http://www.goldenkitestore.com/index.ph ... ts_id=7759" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank
It is so expensive though  Perhaps I will have to save my birthday money for this in a couple of months if the craving wont go!!

It is beautiful. 200 Colors! That is amazing. The smaller version (which isn't small) has 191 colors. It is dangerous to browse. But this one is awesome. You would do a beautiful beautiful job. (If I were you, I'd start saving any and all change right now and then really be looking forward to my birthday). I hope you cave and get it at some time, because I would really love to see this one stitched. Do you know what the DMC mouline special thread is? I could google it, but I guess I'm being lazy.

Mouline is the name of DMC's stranded cotton -- not sure what the special stands for.

Lovely colours!

Just checked, and the full official name of DMC's ordinary strande cotton is "dmc mouline special 25". Quite a mouthfull for what we use every day :-)

That is beautiful, but OMG the size  And the colours & blends :faint: (yay, got an excuse to use that smilie). I thought Scarlet Quince's were bad, but that beats them hands down.

Still, if anyone could take it on and finish it, it would be you Vanessa :D And now that you've shown it to us, you know you really should stitch it.....

What made me :faint: wasn't the colors and blends, but the price! :faint: That's a lot of pennies to save up.

It is gorgeous - but my goodness the price  :faint:, just the thought of the customs charges for the kit   . The chart alone equates to £53. I know Golden Kites are a completely different kettle of fish to HAEDs but it makes me appreciate Michele's prices!

Saying that - if you love something.......... :D

Isn't she pretty :-)! Definitely too big for me though, and rather expensive too.

What I do like very much about GK is that the pictures are of stitched pieces -- unlike sites like HAED that mostly show mock-ups or the art work that the stitching is based on rather than a stitched model. A stitched work can be so different from the artwork or mock-up! Also, from my own experience, while stitching a design for the first time I often make changes, tweak colours or stitches etc to make it look better or be more "stitchable". So definite :applesauce: to GK!

It's a beautiful design Vanessa. But honestly, the price of the kit is a bit ridiculous since they are only providing Aida cloth and DMC floss. For that price, I would expect to get linen and silk! You'd be better off just buying the pattern for the $85 and kitting it up yourself... Just my opinion... :?
