Newbie Finished wedding sampler

Post by Totality »

Hi I'm a bit of a stalker when it comes to forums i very rarely say anything. For the past few months I've spent my time nosing on all your lovely work. I've been x stitching for years on and off and sadly all i stitch gets left in a box and rarely gets seen by anyone. Well I've finally stitched a wedding gift for my OH's auntie who is getting married in august. I didn't want to do anything to big or to classic, i'm hoping its a piece that wont date fast. Anyway here is the finished piece which was found in a magazine. By the way just out of curiosity has any ever found that the design is often missing parts. For example a rose on the design did not have any back-stitch on it and yet it was clearly visible on the completed picture. Also their finished picture lacked the back-stitch in another area. Well without further ado! fingers crossed this works

Hello and welcome in!!!!! Your work is very pretty and should be a wonderful surprise fr your Aunt. :applesauce: :applesauce:

As for your question....yes I have had several patterns that some BS was missing or it was add to the chart but was missing in the sample picture. When that happens I just try to see if it is really important and if it is not then I just leave it off. Obviously the sample stitcher does not comunicate well with the designer or that kind of stuff would be caught. Oh well my stitching always has at least one mistake in it so I imagine charts will not be perfect either.

Beautiful stitching! I bet your Aunt will love it.

I've also noticed that the backstitching listed on a design can be different than the backstitching on the cover. In my case, I wondered if the person stitching didn't like what the designer did and improved on it, or if the person stitching realized that the designer had left out some needed backstitching. I ended up following the design on the cover.

Thanks to all! I have to admit i am now really looking forward to giving her this gift, shes been with her OH for a while now so there was no need for official wedding gifts, so i really am hoping she'll love this home made style gift! Plus i got to work with beads which was a first!

As i said previously I've been doing the hobbie on and off for a while, and it was only when joining this forum that I've learnt how important it is to have a few projects on the go. In the past years I've only allowed myself one project at a time however since getting one of my biggest ones in Feb i realise the importance of regular breaks so i don't lose my bug!

 Hello and welcome. What a nice way of introducing yourself with such a lovely gift for your aunt. :applesauce: I hope that you will share more of your work with us. I too found after joining here that having several projects meant not getting bored with one and so stopping for a good long while. Of course, I have gone overboard with the number of projects so I wouldn't use me for an example. Glad to have you with us.

That looks great! And I've had that issue with charts as well. something missing from the chart that's in the model or vice versa.

Nice to have you on here and posting and I love your sampler. I haven't done a great deal of stitching from magazines but when I have I am always appaed at the number of obvious mistakes on the charts.
