Moving hoop around project

Hi all just wanted some advice, I'm currently stitching a design using a hoop attached to a lap stand which i get on with really well. Normally for a large design i would use a great big frame but cant because this lap stand has it's own hoop frame that cant be detached. I'm nearing the point where I've finished the area I'm cross stitching, but I'm worried about moving the loop across the pattern and how much it will affect the completed cross stitch. Will it become squashed? I've not had much luck with this pattern, i originally gridded it with a special pen to find that even after washing it off it's left yellowish lines, luckily i am able to carry on stitching as the design has a background, otherwise I'd have had to start over.

It is fine that you move the hoop as obviously, you have to in order to finish your project. You may notice a bit of squashed stitches when you first take the hoop off of them. They will eventually relax and if you wash your project once you get done then the stitches will pop right back. Some stitchers will take the hoop/frame off of the work when you are not stitching and this will some what reduce the amount of flattening but I personally just leave the hoops/frames in place and don't worry about it. If you do take the hoop loose then be careful when you are reattaching it so you don't pull/snag the thread.

I stitched my Emerald Mermaid with a hoop, I just moved the hoop around the fabric and gave it a very good wash once I was done all the stitching. All the stitches jumped back to where they should be and the ironing after the wash and it drying also helped with getting rid of the hoop creases that are created while using the hoop.

I have moved a hoop around cross stitching and after a wash and iron it's always been fine, although I tend to try and find a hoop or frame which is big enough for the project I'm doing, but that's just a personal thing

I accidentally left a hoop on a project for a couple of years ... it didn't do any noticeable damage but it did take a few days for the stitched area to bounce back.
