Hi everyone

Post by Kat »

Hi, I'm Kathryn and I've just joined, so I thought I'd say hello. I have been cross stitching on and off since I was a teenager. I have times when I completely lose the stitchy bug and seem to do nothing for months, then I go for weeks where I cross stitch constantly.

I live in Northamptonshire in the UK with my husband and two kids, and am pregnant with number 3. I am finding stitching harder at the moment as I have SPD and stitching for more than an hour is painful, but I am persevering.

Currently I'm doing Maia's African Sunset ( I actually started this a year ago, but have never really been very excited by it, so progress is very slow). I'm also working on In the Meadows, which I've nearly finished, and an old carousel design that I can't remember the name of. I really want to get a birth sampler started at some point in the next couple of months, but I have a very long to do list, so I'm not sure whether I'll get round to it or not!

I'm looking forward to finding my way round the forum and seeing everyone's stitching pictures :) .

 Hello Kathryn and welcome to the forum from South Carolina. I hope you will post pictures of your projects. We love pictures and we also love to encourage and motivate so when you think your stitchy bug is about to go on a trip, we will help you to convince him to stick around. I also don't know what SPD is but hope it is something that is temporary and you can soon stitch without pain. Good for you for sticking with it.

Hi ladies, thanks for the welcome and encouragement :)

I'll try and work out how to post some pictures soon, it would be handy if I could keep some motivation, especially with African Sunset.

Carole and Faith, I wonder if SPD is called something else in the US? Basically its pelvic/lower back pain in pregnancy, that usually stops after giving birth. I'm struggling to do housework or anything really, but at least it should only be temporary.

 Hello Kathryn and Welcome from me too. I think we can all empathise with you over wanting to get onto other things but the WIP list is in the way. Is the birth sampler you want to do for your expected babe or for someone else?

Hi Kathryn, welcome from Newcastle in Australia. It's a lifetime ago now, but I had chronic back pain in my last pregnancy and I know just how draining it can be. Keep up with your stitching, it does help to keep your mind off other things.

Thanks for the great welcome everyone  It's nice to 'meet' such a range of people from different parts of the world on here.

JA Fan - it does look as though there is a lot of information and advice available on here, and I'll be looking through it all next week once my kids are back at school and I have lots of time on my hands. I'm going to have to try and pick up some tips as I have the chart for HAED Dragon Riders, but don't feel like I'm ready to tackle it yet.

Squirrel - yes, it will be a birth sampler for my baby, I've still got 5 months left, so I have a while before I need to get started. I'm determined to actually finish one this time. My eldest is nearly 8 and somehow I haven't got round to finishing hers yet.

Just joining this forum has got my stitching bug going again, but I have a feeling the more I explore the site the longer my wish list is going to get!
