Questions

Post by JazzeyBear »

I have a few questions. While working on my libra project, which is on 25 count fabric I've realized that some of my stitches aren't sitting right. I don't like to complete each stitch as I go along because it seems that if I do the stitches don't sit right. But I'm afraid that my stitches are going to slip behind the threads if I do half stitches across and than come back to finish them. I stitch where my bottom leg is from top left to bottom right, bottom right to top left and my top stitch is from top right to bottom left, bottom left to top right.

1 2
3 4

I go from 1 to 4, 2 to 3 or 4 to 1 and 3 to 2 when I'm completing one stitch. When I'm working half stitches across I go

1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8

1 to 6, 2 to 7, 3 to 8 for my bottom leg and 4 to 7, 3 to 6 and 2 to 5 to finish the cross. Is there another way to stitch where my stitches won't slip into the threads?

I had the same trouble you did- I was working on 28 ct. white thread on red fabric. Trying to to a single straight line and it looked sort of wonky.
Heres the way I went at it. Sort of backwards than the way I normally do. Basically a tent stitch for the bottom leg, a regular half stitch for the top

B to 1
C to 2
D to 3
E to 4

then back to cross
5 to D
4 to C
3 to B
2 to A

Because of your under stitches going on the diagonal, it prevents your top thread from slipping under the fabric weave. But I have noticed that its more difficult to slip your needle under stitches to finish.

I can't recall the thread it was in but Mabel has addressed this issue. Maybe one of the other members will recall where the information is.

I think this thread Question about Reversing Stitches on25 ct fabric is the one you were refering to Rose. I bookmarked it for reference because I like the diagram Mabel had. Scroll down a bit and you will see it.
