Wendywombat's Hardanger

Post by wendywombat »

Encouraged by Mabel, Serinde and a few others (thank you all!!) I've been launched into Hardanger

I  it!
I hope you like my efforts!

Image

The coasters are from Mary Hickmotts excellent Hardanger books and the Butterfly from the little green Anchor Hardanger book

I used Anchor multi-colour Perlé 5 & 8 (plus a touch of 12 cream in the butterfly.

After these early pieces I was encouraged to try a pattern that came from an early edition of Needlecraft magazine given to me by a Dutch lady.

The houses were a Challenge! I found some holographic card to put behind the fabric for windows. Again I used Anchor Perlé in 'marble' for the brickwork.

Well! I did do some years ago then had a Nasty Experience with cutting!
It all fell apart! :x THEN I lost my 'Easing into Hardanger' book! So I'm a New Beginner!

I replaced my lost book, bought 2 more and sat watching Mabel's lovely work before re-trying.

Thank you for all your lovely comments. :D

It is indeed Anchor Marble, Serinde!

I had to concentrate on some of those filling stitches....sort of extended dove's eyes on the big windows!

I haven't tried 25 count yet but I'll give it a go on these.

Lovely pieces Wendy, and the marble effect in the houses looks great!

Do try 25ct, it's my absolute favourite for Hardanger and really easy to work with. (I know Serinde does lovely work on 28ct, and I have done some 28ct myself as well, but I think #5, #8 and 25ct are just the best combination :-))

(Actually, Gloriana Princess Perle # Princess perle Petite with 25ct are the best; they are also horrendously expensive, unfortunately....)
