Fixing flattened stitches

I use a Q-snap when I stitch, and in order to not damage the stitches, I fold over the edge of the fabric to cover the stitching when I put on the clamps. The other day I took off a clamp and my stitches were horribly flattened. (I've never experienced this before with my Q-snaps.) Anyone have any suggestions for "fluffing" them?

When you have finished your project and give it a wash the stitches will come back to normal. If you do not wash your project then you can try giving it a really firm pull in all direction. Vertical, horizontal and diagonal pull in all the different corners and so on, tug hard and then let the piece rest it should pop back after having time out of the frame.

Or just leave it alone. Just being out of the snap for a few days they will bounce back. Of all the years I've been using snaps- I've never had a project where stitches were permanently squished.

Also, if the piece is clean, you might try misting the flat stitches and ironing it upside down on a towel with a steam iron. But I'd not bother until the whole piece was finished.

I sometimes put another cloth under the Qsnap, instead of the fabric.

Usually mine go back to normal after a few days and with some light tugging. Washing the piece and ironing should help as well.

I put a piece of light colored felt in between my qsnaps and the fabric to minimize the contact as much as possible.
