Confetti Stitches
Confetti stitches....so annoying.... How do you deal with them? I can't pull a thread all the way from one to another and it doesn't seem like stitching it singularly the way you start other stitches would anchor it down securely. Is there some epiphany of a trick i'm not getting? Should i pull it through neighboring stitches in the back the way i do to finish a stitch?

I had the same problem and some kind forum members introduced me to the pin head stitch http://www.scarletquince.com/pinhead_aida.php

Re: Confetti Stitches
that sounds like a great way to start a stitch, what if you need to finish off in that same spot is there a solution for that or could I try attempting to do the same exact thing underneath the cross to finish off?? I am working on a project that is mostly confetti stitching and it looks like a big mess on the back.
Re: Confetti Stitches
Wait so now i need some clarification. It says after you finish the cross over top of the pinhead stitch...you just cut off the thread? I'm confused as to how the thread doesn't come out if you do that, unless i'm missing something?

Re: Confetti Stitches
The tail you where holding is what you cut
4. The completed cross covers the pinhead stitch. With 2 strands of floss the pinhead stitch mostly does not show. Snip off the tail on the underside

Re: Confetti Stitches
You can actually end with a pinhead stitch as well, which is handy for single crosses on their own. If you're working over two on evenweave so your stitch covers the area like this:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
Your starting pinhead stitch would be between holes 4, 5 and 6. Your cross would be 7-3 and 9-1. Then to end, you do a pinhead stitch over 2, 5 and 8, slipping the needle and thread under your completed cross to get in and out of hole 5. Having done it myself, I can vouch that it is secure.

Re: Confetti Stitches
I just did a bunch of these little free floating stitches and was worried so I tied knots even though I know you shouldn't in cross stitch. I was worried about them coming out. In the future, this will help out immensely! Thank you soooo much. Too late for my first project but the back of that one was doomed regardless.Lessa54 wrote:You can actually end with a pinhead stitch as well, which is handy for single crosses on their own.
