I'm sort of confused by your question...it sounds like, from your description that she would like to start 'quilting' again ( rather than crochet) because of how you describe it...
In any case, I would think a hobby store like JoAnns or Hobby Lobby would be a good place to start!

Re: Beginner's Crochet Kit?
I've just been looking on the Sew & so website and have found this
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Pipp ... -2007.aspx" target="_blank
It looks fairly simple and comes with detailed instructions, plus it's reduced in price.

I have a confession to make too. There were 2 of those crochet kits left this morning and I bought the other one

Re: Beginner's Crochet Kit?
I went for Sparklies 'Ink' hand dyed fabric, 28 count with an opalescent sheen. It was on offer during Halloween, so I got a piece with Purple Dragon in mind. There's a picture of it on page 49 of the postman thread in the general category http://www.crossstitchforum.com/viewtop ... &start=960" target="_blank
I plan on not stitching the background and stitching 2 over 1 tent stitch. I don't know when I'll be starting him though
I'm a bit wary of doing another project with a stitched black background, as my Trio has a black background and while the black is relatively quick to stitch it can be a bit soul destroying!! However, I haven't stitched on black yet and thought it might be a bit on the tricky side for over 1 on 28 count, so I've gone for a pretty compromise which hopefully will be easier to stitch than an all black fabric. I'll look out for you starting yours and that will probably make me want to start mine!!

Re: Beginner's Crochet Kit?
That's a really cute bag. I think I could do that without a pattern. Granny Squares are a lot of fun. I will have to show this to my friend next time we are together.
