Mauveme posted a picture of a shawl she had crocheted and I was inspired to once again try to learn how, so far I have only done random granny squares and this for a friends baby due in a few weeks, I just watched video after video on youtube pausing and copying what they were doing, then writing it down in a way I understood till it was in my head.
I hope you think its turned out ok for a first attempt (and i hope the mum to be likes it too)

I need to learn to crochet...my mother and mother-in-law crochet, I have no excuse lol
Thank you everyone for the lovely comments about the blanket, I can not wait to gift it
Calico this is the link i used and i just made it to the size i felt would work i used double knitting baby wool and a size 5 (UK) hook But if you have experience of crochet i am sure you will be able to work it out.
Thank you for the link! The pattern is adorable. I already have two crocheted afghans in progress so I have no business starting another right now, however I have bookmarked this pattern for future use!

Nice job!! I love crocheting scarves for the cold winters, and afghans. I think I have a scarf for each of my winter jackets, and a multi colored temperature scarf. Afghans are fun to crochet, especially in the winter. As they get bigger, they serve dual duty: they keep me occupied, and they keep me warm. And one can never have too many afghans, right? Just like we can never have too many WIP's.
