TG help please!

Hello-

I have a slight problem and could use a bit of advice.

A few years ago I started on a kit from Thea Gouveneur - one of the Pansie series.

This was one of my first kits - a great kit at that, but somewhat advanced. Being new to cross stitching at that time, I made some mistakes which left me with much less thread than I needed. After running out of some colours with quite a bit to finish, I put it away and started on other projects.

But this has stuck a bit in my craw and when I was looking in my stash for something else, I took it out again to maybe finish the last 25% or so.

As I have said, I am out of many colours and need some help as there are no standard colour numbers (DMC, Anchor or anyone else). When this problem originally happened, I had written to TG for some help, but they never responded. Of course by now I have enough stash to fill in quite of the missing colour, but there are still some left - and this kit has many slight variations of blue to purple. Any ideas?

I would try emailing again and explain your situation- this time it may be a different person that gets your message. Worth a shot anyway

I recently wrote to Janlynn because my son cut some of my thread from a kit I bought by them. They provided the thread color replacement for free since it was just one. That made me think they might have charged for more than one, but was happy they replaced it. So, it's definitely worth another shot. HOWEVER...it still was not a perfect match of the original. I guess too much time had passed and the dye lot had changed. I ended up being better off just working some of the other colors into the area of the color I was missing. Soooo, you may be better off just substituting all the colors, because even if they do respond this time, the colors are likely to be a shade or two off anyway.

Could you tweed a slightly lighter colour than the original to finish it off

The one time I had to write for more floss, I sent in small pieces of each of the colors taped to a piece of paper and labeled so that they could match the shades properly.

You have to be a bit on the persistent side as a single message may not be seen. I had to ask for a new key code and I had to send 5 messages and finally got the code. Some sites do not get looked at often by the designer so just keep sending request someone will eventually reply.

First off let me thank you for your help and encouragement! Now I have another problem:

As I said before, this kit was one of my first and I made as many mistakes as possible to get them over with (hopefully!!). Now that I have found the requisite threads from my stash and have finished the project, I see that what I completed before just is not up to snuff - not of the quality which I would now show off.

So - does anyone else have this experience? I hate to just throw it away...

1st of congrads on completing it.
I would keep it. I still have my 1st project that I thought wasn't up to my standards. I kept it as a teaching tool for me and it has paid off. Now I will be using it as a teaching tool for my grand girls, as I am teaching them this craft.

I would keep it! Even if to keep tucked in a drawer for your eyes only, it will provide a reference point for how your work improves over time. There will come a point where you will be happy you saved it!
