Homemade Eeyore

Post by fgradowski »

Hi all! This cross stitch is for my mom. I'm hoping I can have it done for mother's day! This is my first try at making my own pattern. I found a blank grid online and a picture of Eeyore standing on his head. I taped the Eeyore picture underneath the blank grid, taped it to my window, and traced Eeyore onto the grid. Last night I started the stitching!

53x78 stitches
14 count Aida
About 4"x6" complete

Image
Tracing Eeyore to the grid. Isn't my view lovely? Ha.

Image
How the tracing turned out. Lots of half boxes and such. Gr.

Image
Thread colors and the first line stitched! Also, grey Aida cloth for a gloomy Eeyore.

Image
How far I got with stitching late last night.

I'm really hoping that this will turn out well. I'm nervous because this is the first pattern I have tried to make on my own!

It's looking good so far. :applesauce: I start my designs by doing a drawing on graph paper first. I think you'll succeed with this. Looking forward to your updates!

Tonight's progress:

I was so worried that the back stitch wouldn't help it out and I had totally messed it up, so I back stitched the outsides that I had finished stitching.

This is fantastic! You have artistic as well as stitching talent! I could not do my own pattern from scratch like this and have it turn out...nope! I can't wait to see more!

I must say, I'm really proud of myself! I never expected this pattern to turn out as well as it is! I never thought I could make my own pattern.
I'll probably stitch some more on this later. All this progress was from earlier today. I spent all day yesterday catching up on my woodland sampler! Still have April to do.
