How many strands of floss for 40 ct linen over 2?

Post by xstitchsoprano »

Hello,

How many strands of floss should I use for a 40 ct linen stitched over 2? Would 2 strands be too bulky? I don't have the linen yet so I can't try it out for myself. I am considering using 40 ct instead of 36 ct to make the final size of the project smaller.

Thanks!

When I've stitched on 40ct linen 2 strands when stitching over 2 gave good coverage and I've been happy with it.
Sometimes I find the colour of the linen makes a difference whatever the count e.g. if it's a sagey dark colour then light threads sometimes look 'skinny' and for small areas I've used an extra strand.

2 threads should be fine for full cross
