Spray Coating ?

Post by pip »

I have just finished a cover for a foot stool . The project has taken an age to do but the result is great!! :D . Does anyone have any idea how I can protect it from getting dirty , I wondered if Scotchgard would do it or would fade the colours ? I would buy some to try but the stuff is £10.00 a can so if anyone has tried it would they let me know. They used to do a spray for embroideries but I think this has been discontinued.
Any help very gratefully received !

I have used Scotchguard on a couple of projects and it turned out just fine. I did a couple of very fine coats. I took the stitching outside and stood a fair distance from it to spray. I did try it on a rubbish piece of stitching first so it wouldn't hurt if you tried that. Mine hasn't discoloured over the years - about 15 since I did it.
