New here too!

Post by mandyrob »

Hey everyone! My name is Mandy. I've been cross-stitching sporadically for about 9 years, but didn't even think about finding a community of stitchers until recently! I'm currently working on Celtic Spring (Lavendar & Lace). I'm planning on doing all 4 seasons eventually and then rotating them out wherever I decide to display them.

I'm currently a SAHM to a 2 1/2 year old girl (hopefully another will be on the way before too much longer!) and am working as a freelance artist. I would love to someday figure out how to convert my drawings into cross-stitch patterns. That would be awesome!

Anyhow, I'm excited about being here! I was browsing a number of different CS forums and this one just looked really inviting to me. I look forward to getting to know you guys!

Welcome Mandy. This indeed is a special place. The people here are the very best. We have alot of fun here but there is also a wealth of information within this group. I hope you jump right in.
I've done several of the Lavender & Lace designs as well. My two latest are posted in my gallery. Make yourself at home. :D

Oh yes, this is by far the best stitching forum out there. We're a really friendly bunch and we'd love for you to join our chatter ^_^

As you're working on something at the moment, why don't your drop by the sal section and make your own thread showing us your progress. We're nosy and would love to see and cheer you on ^_^

There are a few stitching programs out there that turn pictures into patterns, maybe one of those would be beneficial. Beware though, you will probably need to correct it a few times.

Hi there Mandy! Welcome to the forum! I'm also a SAHM but I do have accounting jobs that I do at home... and I also love to draw...I'm into soft pastel oil painting. Glad to have you here! Take care! Happy stitching! :)

Wow, thanks so much for the welcomes, guys! What a nice thing to wake up to!

Carolyn - I'll definitely go check out your gallery as soon as I'm able! And thank you. From the little bit I browsed, it really did sound like a good, supportive, fun group of people! I love L&L - they're such pretty designs!

JFA - I definitely will! It'll be good motivation to have me NOT lay it down for months at a time. lol. I'll look into the cross-stitching software thing. I briefly googled it once. Just need to find one that's a good one.

Charmagne - Oh I would love to see your artwork! That's a medium I think is so pretty! What age are your kids?

Threadbear - Heh heh...I can't imagine my little one ever being 7/8, not to mention 15! I think I definitely will enjoy this forum. :)

Val - Thank you so much!

Jilly - Thanks! It really does seem laid back. Real comfortable!

Serinde - Ha ha! I bet it would be! I'll spend all my time browsing here too instead of stitching! j/k

Susan - Absolutely! I went ahead and put a link to my site in my signature. Thank you so much for the welcome!

Coffee Freak - thank you!

Mabel - I'll pull out the camera and snap a shot of my CS later today and set the SAL thread up. And yeah, I'll definitely share some art too sometime! Have you done the L&L seasons?

Thanks again, guys!

Nothing that size -- I am strictly a small project person :-). I'm working on a kingfisher that 85x85 stitches, and that's plenty big enough for me, but I really enjoy seeing how others bravely tackle these designs!

Mandy, just had a look at your web site and wow, you have such a talent. I absolutely love your digital art. You should talk to the people at Heaven And Earth, I'm sure they would be very interested in your designs. Do let us all know if you do!!

Hello and welcome, Mandy. I'm a stay at home too, but only because I've now retired! My chicks flew the nest some time ago and it's just me and my DH.

Your artwork is superb and I'm sure it would make wonderful crossstitch designs.

Hope you enjoy the forum and join right in with everything. :D

Your art work is wonderful and with that talent I think you really have it in you to create wonderful cross stitch patterns good luck with that. We would love to have a designer of our own. Mabel dabbles in designs and hers are wonderful.

Don't kid yourself about how fast your little one will be a teenager the time flies and you won't know where it has gone. Mine are 21 and 19 and yesterday they were just starting school. It is so nice that you are able to be a SAHM.

Yes, they're very much in that style; I don't know how they usually find designers, but I can't see how they could not be interested in your designs!

Hello, Mandy, and welcome to the forum. You have come to the right place, although most of are not really artists, but there are a lot of very creative people here, and what is even more, we tend to learn from each other and provide inspiration to each other - so please, feel at home.

I am off right now to check your site.
