Hey There!

Post by lwelizabeth »

Hi, all! I'm Laura, and I got into cross stitching not very long ago. Only since this past August/September, when I started college. I'm currently transferring schools and will be majoring in fashion design as soon as the summer season passes. For the summer I am living with my parents and don't have much to do during the day, so I mostly sit around listening to music and cross stitching (of course!) My latest project is of a dolphin that I'm going to send to a friend in Texas for his birthday. I'm hoping it'll remind him that there are good days to look forward to on the bad ones. I post a picture of the completed piece when I'm done, so long as I don't forget. Anyway, just wanted to meet some fellow cross stitcher's and maybe further develop my skills in it.

Welcome from :sun: California! Are you from our side of the pond? My son and his wife live in Texas. I hope you enjoy yourself here. There's lots of fun and information. I've only been here since March (I think) and I'm hooked. These are great people.

@SusanF: Yeah, I figured there was probably a place for that; I'll go do that asap. (Gotta find my camera...it's in this mess of a room somewhere, lol.)

@valb58: LOL, it doesn't yet much look like a dolphin, but you can see the outline of his sunglasses and the raft he's wearing around himself. (I probably forgot to mention it's a silly, cartoonish dolphin, not a realistic one?)

@Serinde: I assume SAL stands for something along the lines of work in progress, correct? I'll probably find out the answer to that in a minute as soon as I go to post my work in progress.

@threadbear: I feel the same way towards cats...I've just about given up on another project which is of a cat--it's evil! Too many mistakes that I can't fix and I'm not even halfway done with it...I think I might just try and figure out a way to start it over. Or just recycle the string for future projects...

@mags: Well, I will definitely be sure to post it!

@Jilly: I sure hope to learn lots more than just stitching!

@carolyn61: No, I'm not from the West Coast, although I certainly feel more at home on that side of the country. My friend in Texas is actually a guy I met in high school who joined the Army and is now located over there. I'm in sunny ol' Florida.

@nettie: I certainly will join in the fun!
