DMC Soluble Canvas

Post by katelara »

I was hoping someone here might have used DMC Soluble Canvas before and might be able to give me some advice. I'm currently stitching a design on an apron using this soluble canvas, i've never used it before and am already worrying about the end stage. I had looked in the instructions and some questions arose, so i hope someone can advise me.

Hi Kate and welcome to the forum from South Carolina. A few members have used waste canvas (which I assume is the same as soluble) to stitch on fabrics not made for cross stitching. I have never done it but am sure someone should be able to help you. Are you a new stitcher? Or is this just the first time using the canvas?

I swear for a minute I thought I was going crazy - that I'd replied to this post already a few days ago. Then I realized it's a new post. I don't have any real experience with it, but I did post some suggestions on the last thread where this was asked recently. You can read my comments here..

Actually Carole the waste canvas is different from the soluble. The waste canvas you have to pull the threads out from the material after you stitch on it. The soluble canvas you just wash the project once you are done and the water dissolves it.

Thanks, Rose for information. There is always something to learn here isn't there. Soluble canvas sounds easier to use, but I'm gonna guess there is some problem with it since you tend to use waste canvas, don't you?

Soluble is a newer product. It is in limited sizes and I am some one that tends to stay with what I know and work with it. Plus I have so much of the waste canvas to use up before I buy something new that basically does the same thing. I have not used it but I am sure it works well.
