Bounce/Dryer Sheets??

Found on a webpage that running thread through a Bounce/Dryer sheet before sewing can keep the thread from tangling...I wonder if this works with Cross Stitch Floss?? Anyone know??

Absolutely no idea. Makes sense if these are anti-static sheets, but it's an expensive way to do it, I'd guess? Plus you don't necessarily know what the long-term effect of the chemicals impregnating the sheet will be on thread and fabric.

I too would bbe concerned about the residue left on the thread. It's one thing to use it in sewing on an item that will be tossed in the machine to launder, but I would prefer to stick to something tested and proven for needlework that isn't going to be washed regularly. Thread Haven is cheap, as is beeswax. You don't have to actually buy a piece of beeswax that is being sold for stitchers.. you could probably find a basic unscented beeswax candle somewhere for under a buck and use that.

I'm a thread licker, so I'd certainly be worried about the residue left on the thread.

My first thought was "won't it all get tangled up with its self?" I too lick the thread...I tried all the pull things, but they cut my thread, so I lick...

Apparently dryer sheets are used kind of like hairspray sometimes to hold curls. I tried this once when I was out of hair spray and it left a somewhat stiff/sticky residue on my hair along with dulling it.

Unless you were going to wash your piece I'd not use it on floss. Based on how it made my hair feel I think it would cause the floss to catch in the fabric you're pulling through as well as dulling the sheen.

I sneeze enough when I use them in the dryer!!!!! I dread to think what I'd be like using them on my thread aswell!!!!
