I bought 2 pieces of Magic Guide Aida (14 count) as it was displayed as half price in my local craft shop.
I never used Magic guide fabric before. Have many of you used it before? What is your opinion on it?

I am using 25count magic guide for my HAED peacock in full bloom and at the beginning it felt a lite stiff l. After a few weeks of stitching it either softened or I got used to it and now I really like it a lot. I am now almost at the end of the project (took over a year!) And I will soon find out if the lines will come off as easy as advertised. They did came off from the test piece I test washed before starting...

Thank you for your reply, Oriettait.
On the packet, it says :" Machine wash minimum 40 degrees". I would not trust my washing machine to wash a project, which took me a long time to finish. I wonder if anyone managed to wash the grid by hand with no problem.

I am also doing my HAED Waterfall (Escher) on 18ct Aida Magic Guide. I really really really like it. I am just praying the lines will come out after I am done, wich will be some years from now.

I am just going to do handwash on 40 degrees, and just hope for the best.

If these are being used for HAEDs, then presumably the lines are totally covered... so if they don't come out entirely (or worse, if they reappear at some stage in the future), no one will be the wiser?

Mine is actually not full coverage so I am really keeping my finger crossed

True. But in some spots you can see a tiny bit of "orange". As my HAED is light grey and white, you can really see it. So I still keep my fingers crossed.

I have used magic aida for one of my big projects. I loved it,and it was easy to use. The lines did wash out vno problem ,Iwashed it by hand. Enjoy your stitching
I'm using the DMC Magic Guide fabric (18ct) for the first time for a large project. I really like it. It has made my stitching much easier. For a similar project that I did not have the magic guide fabric to use I have been counting out 10x10 blocks on the fabric as I go. With the DMC guide had made it so much easier. it took, me a while to trust the the guide on the fabric was accurate but after a day I felt more comfortable with it, and the guides on the fabric have been perfectly accurate so far.

That is reassuring! I am looking forward to using it now.

So after I finished Mr peacock I did washed it right away as I was really worried about those lines. I started hand washing it at 40C, just laying in there sorted no effect, I had to rub it with my hands quite hard, still was seeing some even if just faint lines. I ended up tossing it in the wash machine, did the delicate cycle at 40 degree with no soap. I put my project in a pillow case for extra protection.
Now that is almost dry I can't see any line anymore.
If there is a complaint I have about the fabric is that id did shrunk quite a bit compared to linen I used before. I will see after a proper ironing if it gets better.
Even if I loved the fact that i did not had to grid I am not sure I would use it again, even for full coverage project, not much for the lines but for the fabric consistency.
I have used magic guide for several different projects ( some spanning over many months)
I only hand wash my pieces when finished, so with the magic guide, I leave it to soak in hot water (40deg), some gentle rubbing is needed, but it always washes out fully.
Go ahead and enjoy your stitching.
Smile & the whole world smiles with you
Cry & you cry alone
Thank you Oriettait and CarrieGF. Your answers are very helpful. I will take the plunge and use it on my next project.
