Hole in linen

Post by Allie »

Hi, I am half way through a very big project being worked on even weave linen fabric. I have discovered that a few threads of even weave have frayed right in the middle of the cloth leaving a not very big hole. Is there any way I can firstly, effect a repair to the damage and secondly, stop the fraying getting any worse, or is there no hep but to abandon the project and start again?

Some where on the forum thread is a thread I believe that was started by benceagi she had a hole in her shirt or maybe it was a jumper and she was able to mend it with a cross stitch. If you can find it or maybe PM her and ask about her fix that would help with your dilemma. :x:

I don't know if this will help. I've never done this myself, but........

In the menu on the left side, go down to "Finishing" and click on "Repairs"

I have done exactly what is recommended at Scarlet Quince. It requires patience, but it's not hard and it looks perfect when done.

I'd only add this hint: make sure that you use the threads in their correct relationship to one another: vertical (warp) thread for weaving up and down and the horizontal (weft) thread to weave right to left. It does make a difference. Really, it does.
