Ornament Tutorial by Mauveme

Post by mauveme »

Here is an ornie I finished with some steps to finishing
Step one, finished stitching with backstitched boarder. The smaller areas on each side are the two halfs of the backImage
Next, whip stitch the back seam together and fold and baste the tops and bottom opening.

At this point you have two options, either stuff it or insert a peice of plastic or card stock or for some larger ones I have used apiece of sticky back mounting board with felt stuck to the glued side ( you will have to add two more back stitches on each of the two back sections for the thickness of the board)

And here is the finished product. I added a cord with a tassel on the end. The sides are stitched with 1/2 the stitches used for the front. If there is an uneven number of stitches, I round it down, the back seam will give enough width to equal the one stitch you are missing.

Any questions just pm me. Hope you like this style of finishing. I use it for ATC as well.

Mauveme, this is incredibly clever!! I do lots of different ornie finishes, but have never seen anything like this. May I please post your method on my stitching group's fb page? I think many ladies will try it out.
