Look, it's a big sacrifice on my part, being forced to look at simply beautiful stitching that amazesand delights me, but I'm generous ... I will put up with as many pictures as you can bore me with.
I always tended to think of cross stitch as the 'easy' end of needle painting, because all you do is follow a pattern, effectively painting by numbers with a very simple stitch.
Also, I always thought that embroidery was at the other end of the ability scale - only the best need apply.
Reckon you have confirmed my thoughts, and would love to see more.
The butterfly was done whilst walking in Northern Spain last year- something to do in the evenings and during waits at the airport, and on the plane. Some interest aroused amongst fellow passengers....
On the next trip I thought a small cross stitch key fob would be easier to do whilst on the move, and so that started me off .......
Thank you for your kind comments.

Incidentally, the latest trip to Spain with some cross stitching was rather funny. Returning home via Santiago airport, my rucsac was pulled going through the scanner - reason?
The small 4 piece wooden frame ( 4 x 25cm screw together bits) showed up and they thought it was some kind of weapon, much to everyone's amusement when I unpacked it all.....
I guess that's good, as it shows they are on the ball (no such check at Stansted)

I love that crewel work. It's beyond me but I have a friend in Spain who does the most wonderful stuff....she's done several of Helen Steven's work, plus she designs her own!

C'mon, Wendy, your stuff is amazing, I'm sure you could do satin/long & short stitch standing on your head!! I'm scared to even attempt Hardanger......
