Hello from Sydney

Post by hilofoz »

Hello fellow X-Stitchers.

I am quite amazed at such a large community of cross stitchers from all over the world. Of course, the craft as been around since ancient times.

I have been doing cross stitch since I was four, on and off, and really love it. I also like doing black work. As my mother told me, the back must be as good as the front. I was very interested to read peoples experiences on this forum. At the moment I am going through a cross stitch phase and am doing the DMC English Summer Masterpiece by Sharon Jervis.

Soon I hope I will make my own designs using software when I have finished this project and another one that is coming up.

Cheers

 Hello and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! You are so right about this being a very international community of cross stitchers. Its wonderful for so many reasons, not least of which is that someone is usually around. One of the things we love most is admiring and encouraging each other's projects. We love pictures and I hope that you will post pictures of your projects. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Thank you Carole,

I got back into stitching on our narrowboat, Willow, which we live and travel on in the UK for six months. Walking through the English villages there are many craft shops, especially near the canals. Many have canal themes and include maps of the journeys, with features and the place names alongside the canals.

When I am not stitching, I am very busy finishing my thousands of photos of the trip, documenting them on the map and putting them on Flickr. Perhaps one day, I will use software to convert some of these into patterns. That would be fun. I need two lives though to do this. If you want to follow our trips, the url for the collections is:

Hi and Welcome from lovely and cool Brisbane with not a thunderstorm in sight either. Hope you have survived the stormy start to 'summer' ok.

What amazing photos and so well placed in their squares too. It must have been a most interesting time.

So glad you have found us and hope you will post pictures of your WIP. :)
