Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but can anyone tell me if Dinky Dyes hand dyed silks are washable once a project is finished?
and also i bought a piece of material from sew and so simply because it was a nice colour but when it has come it is only coloured on one side i wonder if that will wash off once my project is complete.
It says on the slip in with it thats it is from fabricflair.com if anyone has used any of their stuff and knows i would be happy to find out ahead of time.
Thanks
help with floss please

Re: help with floss please
DD floss will, I think, wash in cold or lukewarm water (unless it is bright red or another very strong colour), but to be on the safe side wash it before you start stitching with it, and keep rinsing until the water runs clear, then you should be all right.
I've used FF fabric but mostly white and cream, and they were fine. I've seen their dyed fabric at the K&S Show and have always steered clear of it exactly because of what you mention, that it's only on one side. I think some of their fabrics are actually printed, but I don't know what sort of inks/dyes they use. Perhaps you could contact them, or contact Sew It All who I think are their official distributors (although I may have that wrong)

Re: help with floss please
I bought some FF (Fabric Flair) fabric in linen, a beautiful mauve.....So disappointing!
Printed on one side and where the slubs were on the fabric, it was white underneath. Now if I'd wanted spotty fabric!!
but I didn't!
Accidentally bought a cloud printed fabric, also from FF and that was white on the reverse, but as it's not linen it's OK-ish!
I have some dinky dyes but as they're only used in small projects I haven't washed them.
Mabel's advice (as always) is sound!
