Hello

Post by Annieinstitches »

Greetings to you all from the windy hills of the Yorkshire moors
I fell in love with cross stitch many years ago when my sister in law made me a cross stitch Christmas card,
since then I've completed a few projects and although I have enjoyed stitching my main love is designing cross stitch charts ( by the way this is not a plug for my work) I find the whole design process very therapeutic and satisfying. My most recent projects have been redwork cross stitch samplers and its funny but I've found these more of a challenge than the full colour charts - maybe its because you have to rely on the design more as there are no multi coloured distractions - well that's me in a nutshell as they say.
I came across this forum quite by accident, it had never dawned on me that there might be cross stitch forums
Annie;-)

wow thanks, I couldn't work it out, I was trying to post actual pictures rather than links to other websites.
I'll get mind around it for next time thanks for the link.
Thats some fine stitching, a beautiful piece of work, is the centre stitched or embellished, the whole thing looks like a family heirloom

Thanks Lavenderbee for your welcome
I understand the wet and windy its been the same for us
we live at the head of a valley so all the weather blasts up the valley and hits us head on
the views are great though so I don't mind

Glad to help, and by the way---great projects---very different from each other.
The center on mine is an embellishment---and I intend to eventually make it into a pillow top

Hi Annie  and Welcome from me too in sunny Brisbane. Wow those red samplers are amazing and so diverse too. Slightly tempted with Bambi one but I have more than enough to see out this lifetime and a good bit of another one too. :D

goodness me I'm amazed at all your replies, I'm truly not used to this,
it makes me laugh - I'm on a few different forums and other things like Etsy teams etc and what normally happens when I introduce myself is almost nothing and complete indifference, if I get one response then I'm well pleased.
this is like forum heaven :whoop: thank you Squirrel, Sirinde, fcc and all for your encouraging words about my work, I'm on a downer about my designs at the moment and seriously thinking of pulling out of Etsy, though I do love Etsy and the community spirit, anyway I cant make my mind up what to do so I'm doing nothing for now. It has been just a creative hobby for me and now I'm not sure what to do with it all.
Its great to get replies from so many different parts of the world.
anyway thank you all - I think I have rabbited and moaned enough

 Hello from SW France. :wavesback: Welcome!! :whoop:

I love the redwork Hare Sampler...
We have Hares living in our field and I'm currently stitching up a Derwentwater design of one.

Redwork reminds me of the Samplers done by the orphans from the Muller Orphanage in Bristol.

Thanks Wendy and Vannessa for your welcome
I have seen very few hares, the two times that I remember were both memorable.
The first encounter was at 3 O clock in the morning I saw a huge hare bouncing down the middle of the street that I lived on right in the middle of town, it was such a strange place to see him, I felt like I had just walked into a children's story and the second encounter was when walking across the moors in the middle of a snowy winter and the hare was pure white - such a beauty.
Wendy thanks for the website links I'll be interested to have a look. I love redwork and I own 1 or 2 old pieces. I have an old table cloth that is made of several redwork panels, its so lovely and has inspired a lot of my work, at the moment I'm working on a peacock sampler that's inspired by the table cloth.
