Squirrel sent me a piece of evenweave in her destash, I dyed it using Inktense blocks, and it's now the base for a stitched geological map of the British Isles.
I used the Pattern Wizard tool to convert the map, but I'm using that more as an outline guide than a strict pattern, as the coloured areas of the map are solid colours (which PW didn't always recognise).
It's a slow project, I've not stitched 1 over 1 before, and I've not worked on anything with a higher thread count than 22, so this is stretching my focus a bit! I'm working 1 over 1 tent stitch rather than cross stitch as I don't think I have the patience for cross stitch on this project

I have an idea buzzing around the back of my mind that a series of geological maps, each a distinct slice through taken at various depths, stitched on a very fine gauzy fabric would be *beautiful*, but unless I can find a grant / funder that would be willing to let me do nothing but work on one project for at least a year, this is likely to stay in the back of my mind!
